With over 12 years Tattooing experience, I consider myself very confident in Tattoo Cover ups or Fix ups. This is the approach I take...
1. I often start with an image of the Tattoo wished to be covered, and to determine how large the tattoo can be.
2. I come up with a sketch, or sometimes multiple sketches to show the clients to get their opinions on what they like best
Either a stencil is made from the sketch, and laid over the Tattoo to be Covered. Or very often, sharpies and pens are used to draw the images right onto the skin, this sometimes makes for better coverage.
4. The Tattoo Outline & Shading is performed. FOten using black & dark colors to cover the old tattoo, and brighter colors to take your eye away from the original spot.
Pointers to know before getting a Cover Up.
-Most Cover Ups require at least 25% or more of the area to be covered.
-The more detail/colors you can add to take yourn eye away from the original spot, makes a better visual.
-Sometimes i Cover up is not the only option, Often times Tattoos can be reoutlines & recolored to make it even better than before!
